ARTIST STATEMENT: 

Working in painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and textiles, my work explores central themes of materiality and temporality with an emphasis on the processes of making. I make work quickly and intuitively, allowing for chance and the subconscious mind to play key roles. The work is about the dialogue between conscious and subconscious, between material and artist agency and between the represented and the abstracted. The work walks the line between each dichotomy, retaining a fresh ambiguity.

The paintings explore a tension between control and disruption, where structure is continuously built and undone. I use abstraction to suggest fragments of space or form that never fully settle, hovering between recognition and collapse. This instability reflects an interest in how perception and memory attempt to organize experience, yet remain incomplete.

Material plays a central role. Through layering, scraping, and reworking, the surface records moments of decision, doubt, and revision. Rather than resolving into fixed meaning, the work stays open, allowing intuition to interrupt order. Each painting becomes a space where construction and breakdown coexist, holding a sense of something unresolved, but still active and alive.
